One of the most impressive beaches on the island is Issos, a vast, virgin area with golden sand and huge dunes, elements which have identified the beach as “the Sahara of Corfu”. Besides this, a prime location, in front of Lake Korission which is the most important wetland on the island ”holds” Issos beach. From the northern part of the beach begins the famous cedar forest, on a narrow strip of land between the lake and the sea which ends up to the nearby Chalikounas beach.
On Issos beach with its shallow, crystal clear waters you will find parasols and deck-chairs in front of the only beach bar on this endless sandy beach. The whole area is protected by law (Natura 2000), therefore you will not find any infrastructure. You can find restaurants only in the nearby settlement of Agios Georgios in Argirades and near Chalikouna beach.
Issos is a beach you must visit. Even better, we suggest you stay until late and enjoy a unique sunset above the dunes.
